The Volkswagen Budd-e is an electric van. Revealed in 2016, it was inspired by the Microbus.. At a glance, you can see that the overall shape, proportions and powertrain technology come from the concept car.

Volkswagen Budd-e Futuristic Look
The car has a swooping roofline. It has a long body which is styled like the Microbus concept. Its front end has features which immediately indicate that it is an electric car. The bumper has LED-lined air intake scoops. The grille is wide and has some aggressive styling. It also has an LED glow on each bar. The grille extends to both sides of the car’s nose to meet the headlights. Just like the rest of the lighting in the car, they are made with LED technology. The headlights also have day-time running feature. The Volkswagen Budd-e does not have side mirrors. They have been replaced by cameras known as e-mirrors.
The pair of side-skirts adds a sporty appearance to the vehicle. Furthermore, the car’s A-frame is split by a triangular pane of glass. This increases the driver’s visibility. The rear window is long and bordered by the d-pillars. In addition to that, a continuous LED tube runs along the top of the back end of the car and works as a brake light. The same LED-lined air intake scoops feature in the back bumper. Furthermore, there are some new LED tail lights.
Volkswagen Budd-e Interior
The car’s interior is futuristic. The cockpit has the driver sitting in the middle of the section. There is a new, smooth and light two-spoke steering wheel. It comes with touch-sensitive buttons to control aspects such as the indicators, air conditioning, navigation, phone calls and music.
The instrument panel is made up of 3 touch screens which work together to provide driver support and passenger entertainment. The dashboard is also covered in soft leather and is lit with ambient LED lighting. However, the back of the Volkswagen Budd-e has a seating arrangement which looks and feels like a lounge. It is also accessible through a single rear door that slides open and closed. A continuous seat wraps around the interior space. Moreover, there is a large screen to provide entertainment for the passengers.
Volkswagen Budd-e Engine and Performance
The Volkswagen Budd-e will have large, 101 kWh lithium-ion battery. It provides the car with a range of 233 miles. The electric power system comes with Fast-Charging technology. As a result, it can charge the car’s battery up to 80% in only 15 minutes. Moreover, a pair of electric motors provides power to all four wheels. The car can achieve a top speed of 93 mph.
Volkswagen Budd-e MSRP and Release Date
Volkswagen has not stated the price of the VW Budd-e. However, the car will debut in 2020. Fans and enthusiasts will be able to buy it at that time.
