LCV fans are advised to keep their excitement in check as an all-new 2018 Citroen Berlingo is on the horizon. The light commercial vehicle was spotted conducting winter testing with the body of the second-generation model. It seems the test mule would suit buyers who prefer light commercial vehicles for their cargo hauling capabilities.
Nine years ago, when the sec-gen Citroen Berlingo first premiered, it was considered the best vehicle in its category. But times have changed, and now the French Utility Vehicle trails behind other brands that have had an overhaul recently, including the Ford Tourneo, the Renault Kangoo, and the Fiat Doblo. Despite the 2012 facelift, the old Berlingo doesn’t seem to be a tempting alternative any longer.
2018 Citroen Berlingo – Comes with a refreshed front Fascia
The first spotting of the third generation 2018 Citroen Berlingo is a clear indication that the company has finally opted to rejuvenate it. Recognizing the new Citroen is easy as the spy images show a Peugeot Partner in the background besides a new front fascia. The brand is also using multi-layered light casings which give this model away instantly.
The first two strips mark the door outline, and they are both sited over the sliding door. While it gives an impression of a tiny opening, a reliable source says this is not the case.
Keeping in mind that the Peugeot and Opel partnership has gone through, we bet the next Opel Combo shares the same platform with the new Berlingo. In our images, only the two 100 percent models are visible. The two versions appear to be larger than the current model, which makes us believe the length of the loading area has risen.
Aside from this, a keen eye would notice the test vehicle has a jacked-up suspension. It is a clear indication that the company has been testing an engine, presumably a diesel engine. Additionally, keen-eyed viewers can see some plastic add-ons on the front-wheel arches. It may imply the availability of extended front tracks in the new 2018 Citroen Berlingo.
The inbound LCV is comprised of a full set of seats and windows, making it a viable alternative to the traditional MPV. The availability of rear sliding doors make loading and unloading easy while flipping down the back seats transforms the new LCV into the utility vehicle. The company offers dozens of modern features and amenities that matter the most.
2018 Citroen Berlingo – Powertrain
The company is yet to provide the information on the powertrain versions which will make the way into the new 2018 Citroen Berlingo. Nevertheless, we bet this model would present some overly sophisticated turbo diesel engines. Some reports suggest the likelihood of cheaper, entry-level gasoline units as well. We will update this space with concrete info on powertrain choices in the next few weeks. So, check back soon for more news feeds on the same.
2018 Citroen Berlingo – Release Date and Cost
This is the first time we have spied the 2018 Citroen Berlingo conducting winter tests in the open. Also, reliable sources claim that the automaker is developing these prototypes at PSA Group’s manufacturing facility in Vigo, Spain. The 2018 Citroen Berlingo is set to head to the dealerships at some point in 2018. In this moment there is no official pricing of the upcoming model.
